Tours very often fill to capacity. To ensure you have a spot on the tour of your choice, a reservation is strongly encouraged. You can make a reservation conveniently online HERE or you may call 1-888-718-4253.

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of your tour, so you will have time to check in and watch a video, which is shown fifteen minutes before the tour begins.

Columbus is on Eastern Time.

Architecture Tour

  • See the architecture that made Columbus famous. Find out why the American Institute of Architects ranked Columbus 6th in the nation for innovation and design.
  • This guided bus tour enables you to see many of the 70 world-renowned buildings and public art installations. Your guide will take you inside two building interiors on the two-hour tour.
  • All tours begin at the Visitors Center, 506 Fifth Street in Columbus.
  • Note about Children and Pets: Every person taking the tour must purchase a ticket, including children. Please note that the tours are oriented to adults and children are not encouraged to take the tours. Self-guided walking tours for the architecture are available for parents with small children. Pets are not allowed on the tour, service dogs are welcome.

Miller House and Garden Tour

  • See the house and gardens by architect Eero Saarinen and designers Dan Kiley and Alexander Girard.
  • This guided ninety-minute tour starts at the Visitors Center, 506 Fifth Street in Columbus, and guests are shuttled by bus to the Miller House.

Downtown Walking Tour

  • Get an up-close look at downtown Columbus! Tour-goers will explore some of the community's renowned landmarks as well as some less-well-known features that make Columbus unexpected and unforgettable.
  • The highlight of this one-hour guided tour is an insiders' look at 301 Washington Street, the personal office of community benefactor and champion of the arts, J Irwin Miller. This is the first time the public has been granted access to this unique space, with custom interiors by legendary mid-century designer Alexander Girard.
  • Those taking this tour should be able to walk for up to 60 minutes and should expect to climb stairs. Tours will proceed in the event of rain and will be canceled only if lightning occurs.
  • Downtown Walking Tour Price: $15
  • Tours at 10:30 on the first and third Saturday of the month, March - November.

Miller House and Garden Curator's Tour

  • Offered periodically, see tour times and prices here
  • Interested in a more in-depth experience of the Miller House and Garden? Join a knowledgeable member of the Indianapolis Museum of Art staff for a special, more leisurely tour of the property.
  • Curator’s Tours are available for $100 per person.
  • Still photography is permitted for personal use only and cannot be used in any commercial manner.
  • Flash photography, tripods, and other photographic equipment are not permitted.
  • The tour is approximately two hours, including transportation time from the Columbus Area Visitors Center to Miller House and Garden.
  • Private group tours available for 10 or more, contact Becky Harper at 1-800-468-6564 for information.

Miller House and Garden Photo Tour

  • Offered periodically, see tour times and prices here
  • This tour offers visitors the opportunity to capture their own photographs of the iconic house. Still photography is permitted for personal use only and cannot be used in any commercial manner.
  • Guests on the tour are not permitted to deviate from the tour path or to ask for access to areas to obtain a particular shot.
  • Photo Tours are available for $60 per person.
  • To enhance the experience, this is a longer tour, lasting two hours and only children nine years and older, with a ticket, may accompany adults.
  • Flash photography, tripods, and other photographic equipment are not permitted at Miller House and Garden.

Miller House and Garden Landscape Tour

  • This two-hour tour is offered periodically for $30, look for times here.
  • The Miller Garden is regarded as one of America’s most important modernist landscapes. Join a specialist guide for a more extensive tour of the property with emphasis on the garden and landscape, though a brief interior visit is included with this tour.
  • This tour will include significant walking over varying terrain in outdoor conditions; please dress accordingly.
  • The tour is approximately two hours, including transportation time from the Columbus Visitors Center to Miller House and Garden.
  • Please refer to the ticketing calendar for tour availability and make your special reservation online.
  • Flash photography, tripods, and other photographic equipment are not permitted.
