  • Kelly Wilson and Kevin Lair, the newly appointed faculty of the IUCA+D, will present a selection of works from each of their diverse practices including painting, drawing and site-specific installation. Public gallery talks will be scheduled during the length of the exhibition.

  • Kelly Wilson’s work reflects his engagement with design and visual invention through drawing and painting from perceptual observation to architectural representation.  Kevin Lair’s site specific installation includes built form with two-dimensional work.

  • The gallery is free and open to the public, Friday and Saturday, 1-5 pm or by appointment, with an opening reception on Friday, 3rd of February from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

  • Janet Cheatham Bell will discuss the novel The Help, about African American women working for whites during the early 1960s, and the recent movie of the same title. Ms. Bell is a writer and editor who left a job in the publishing industry to pursue her dream of creating and publishing her own books. Her first was published in 1986 and her latest, Victory of the Spirit, in 2011. Her memoir about growing up in Indiana, The Time and Place That Gave Me Life, was published in 2007. Ms. Bell encourages all to live their dreams

Visual Ideas and the Architecture of Columbus

  • Learn about the new IU Center for Art and Design from its director T. Kelly Wilson. Director Wilson will also share his passion for art and architecture through a discussion of our downtown architecture and sculpture and how they both relate to each other and make downtown Columbus such a vibrant spot in Indiana.

  • Director Wilson has been an invited lecturer at many academic institutions, both nationally and internationally. He has held an Associate Professorship at Harvard Graduate School of Design and has won several awards for his work.
